Description:
Epiphytic herb growing from ribbed, concial-ovoid to cylindrical-fusiform pseudobulbs 3-9 x 1-3 cm, 3-5 noded, yellowish-green; roots c. 2 mm in diameter; leaves 20-40 x 1.5-4 cm, narrowly elliptic, plicate, deciduous with a persistent sheathing base; inflorescence erect, arising from base of pseudobulb when plant is leafless, paniculate with spreading branches; pedicel and ovary up to 12 mm long; bracts 1-3 mm long; flowers yellowish flushed with brownish-purple, lip mid-lobe deep yellow; sepals 5-7 x 1.5-2 mm, oblanceolate; petals 4-6 x 2.5-3 mm, elliptic; lip 4-6 x 3-3.5 mm, 3-lobed, side lobes erect, oblong and rounded, mid-lobe c. 2 x 3 mm, bifid or retuse; spur 4-6 mm long, bent forward and obtuse or bifid at the apex.

Derivation of specific name: lurida: dirty brown, smoky or drab yellow, referring to the colour of the flowers.
Habitat: Riverine forest and woodland, often in forks of trees
