Description:
Terrestrial herb 15–35 cm high; tubers almost globose to ellipsoid, 6–2 mm long, densely hairy. Basal leaves 2, appressed to the ground, more or less round to kidney-shaped, 4–6 cm wide; stem with 4–7 loosely sheathing leaves up to 3 cm long. Inflorescence fairly densely several-many-flowered, 5–7 cm long. Flowers bright orange-red, spurs paler at tips; bracts reflexed, 15 mm long at base of inflorescence. Sepals and petals spreading or slightly decurved. Median sepal oblanceolate, 7–8.5 mm long; lateral sepals obliquely ovate, 6-8 mm long. Petals oblanceolate, 5–7.5 mm long. Lip very convex, 6–7 mm long, wide-mouthed with a dorsal keel. Spurs 9–10 mm long, slender.

Notes:
Derivation of specific name: orbiculare: orbicular, spherical, round, referring to the basal leaves.
Habitat: Montane grassland and woodland.
Altitude range: 1650 - 2250 m
