Description:
Perennial herbs with annual prostrate or scandent, bristly-hairy stems, up to 2 m long. Leaves shallowly to deeply palmately 3-5-lobed, densely hairy on both surfaces, cordate at the base; margin with small spread-out teeth. Flowers in axillary clusters; male flowers on a long pedicel; female flowers sessile, cream to greenish-yellow. Fruit in subsessile clusters, up to 10-15 mm long, ellipsoid, not or slightly rostrate, densely hairy, bright red when ripe.

Derivation of specific name: boehmii: after Richard Böhm (1854-1884), a German plant collector in Tanzania in 1882.
Habitat: In woodland, grassland and thickets, often on rocky outcrops and termite mounds.
