Description:
Hairless, annual herb. Stems climbing, smooth or tuberculate, up to 2.5 m long. Leaves: lamina circular in outline, digitately 5-9-lobed or pedately 3-partite; lobes linear-lanceolate to elliptic, acute; petiole 2-7 cm long. Pseudostipules present. Inflorescences 1-3-flowered; pedicels thicker than the peduncle. Sepals obtuse, unequal, gibbous and 1-2-tuberculate near the base. Flowers 5-10 cm long. Corolla funnel-shaped with a narrow tube, 4-5 cm long (in var. tuberculata); yellow or white with a purple centre. Capsule spherical.

Habitat: Dambo margin woodland, edge of riverine forest, mixed scrub and river banks.
