Description:
Small parasitic shrub with spreading stems up to c. 1 m. Branchlets puberulous, sometimes with longer hairs on young parts. Leaves opposite or subopposite, sometimes clustered at older nodes, dull green to glaucous, lanceolate to narrowly ovate-elliptic. Flowers in axillary, few-flowered umbels. Corolla c. 3.3 cm long, dull red to purple, densely covered with spreading hairs; lobes c. 9 mm long, reflexed. Stamen filaments red. Berry red, obovoid-spherical, glabrescent.

Zimbabwe
Notes: - The density of hairs on the corolla is very variable with some specimens entirely covering the corolla, particular in bud or on new flowers. In other specimens the hairs are much less dense, clearly showing the colour of the corolla..
- This species differs from T. oleifolius by the longer and often denser hairs on the corolla, and the darker colour.
