Description:
Perennial, culms up to 45 cm tall. tufted, crowded; culms 8-40 cm long, bluntly to sharply triangular, bases bulbous. Leaves many, linear, 1-5 mm wide, scabrid on the margins and veins. Inflorescence capitate, green, greenish-white or white tinged green, hemispherical to ovoid.

Notes: “The bulbous base is eaten by rodents, francolin and guineafowl, the whole plant is grazed by cattle, sheep, goats and hares.” (FTEA)
