Description of the genus

Unarmed trees. Leaves imparipinnate or sometimes 3-foliolate. Inflorescence a many-flowered panicle. Flowers brown outside, greenish-white inside. Petals minute and inconspicuous. Stamens 5-10; filaments free. Sepals 5, fulvous or rusty-brown pubescent. Pod sessile, indehiscent, slightly flattened, densely pubescent..

Worldwide: 40 species, in the tropics, mostly Old World and mostly Africa.
