Description of the genus

Annual herbs. Leaves alternate, simple, sessile or shortly petiolate, slightly serrated. Capitula discoid, small, solitary, with about 8 florets, campanulate-cylindric. Involucre of 1 series of bracts. Receptacle flat, naked. Florets tubular, corolla shorter than ovary, pink to violet. Pappus a single linear scale or 0.

Worldwide: 5 species in southern tropical Africa.

Zambia: 4 taxa.
