Description of the genus

Shrubs or climbers. Leaves alternate, entire. Capitula discoid, in dense terminal corymbose panicles. Phyllaries in several rows, imbricate. Receptacle shallowly honeycombed, without scales. Corolla yellow or orange. Achenes usually 1-ribbed. Pappus of many scabrid bristles; inner ones longest.

This genus was included within Vernonia in the account in FZ 6(1).

Worldwide: 40 species, mostly Madagascar, some in Africa and SE Asia

Zambia: 1 taxon.
