Description of the genus

Shrubs. Leaves opposite. Flowers sessile, bisexual, fragrant, in axillary pairs on reduced shoots on older wood. Corolla white to pink; lobes spreading to reflexed. Ovary 2-locular. Fruit spherical, fleshy.

Derivation of name: Pierre Victor Adolphe Ferret, 1814-1882, French military officer, explorer and plant collector.

Worldwide: 2 species in tropical Africa.

Zambia: 1 taxon.
